2 years Begins to use plurals. Imitation of adult sentences (omits prepostitions, articles, and adverbs, but keeps the order correct).
2 1/2 years Begins to use past tense.
3 years Uses m, n, f, h, w, p, ng, correctly in all positions of words. Uses d,k,g correctly in most positions. Uses is, and articles most of the time. Begins to use his and her.
3 1/2 years All vowels are mastered. Singular/plural noun-verb agreements are emerging.
4 years Speech is 98% intelligible. Uses k, b, d, g, r correctly in all positions of words. Uses s, l, ch, sh in some positions. Begins to use complex and compound sentences.
5 years Uses s, sh, ch correctly in all word positions. Generally correct usage of regular verbs (past tense) and regular plurals.
6 years Uses th, v, l correctly in all word positions. Stabilizing correct usage of irregular plurals and past tense.
6 1/2 years Uses z, sh, j correctly in all word positons.
